Drivers

Drivers are individuals that are over the age of 21 who may or may not be NJ EMT certified. Drivers are trained thoroughly on how to properly operate MJFAS vehicles, respond in both emergent and non-emergent modes (lights and sirens or no lights or sirens). Drivers have the most important job out of all the members on the ambulance; making sure that the crew and the patient get to where they are going safely and efficiently.

Driving an emergency vehicle is not simple. As such all of our drivers undergo training to be able to properly operate our vehicles and must be cleared by our Chief and Chief Driver. Drivers are vetted to the highest degree. Their responsibility does not end there however. Drivers are also expected to assist on scene whenever needed.

Drivers are expected to attend their weekly duty night, monthly Squad business meeting, monthly Squad training, and a rotating Saturday shift. Drivers are also expected to maintain a valid Healthcare Professional CPR card and First Aid certification (unless they are NJEMT or NREMT certified) during their time on the Monmouth Junction First Aid Squad which we can help members to obtain.
